Trevor Grimshaw
TREVOR GRIMSHAW (1947-2001)
Trevor Grimshaw was born in 1947 at Hyde in Cheshire. He studied at Stockport College of Art between 1963 and 1968. Grimshaw exhibited frequently in England, particularly in the North West but also in Germany and the USA. He is represented in various collections, including Salford Art Gallery, Stockport Art Gallery, North West Arts and the collections of both BBC and Granada TV.
Grimshaw drew inspiration from the industrial scenery of the North West. His images are of misty valleys, steam trains emerging through fog, canals, rusting railings and rainy townscapes. His images are not photographic representations of how things appear but, rather, evoke a feeling for place and time. This is achieved through the subtle use of tone and sensitive nuances of colour.
